Six Towns

Six Towns are a 5 piece indie rock ‘n’ roll band from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. With their perfect combination of anthemic choruses and attention grabbing riffs, it’s no wonder these boys are tipped as the rock ‘n’ roll band for the modern generation. And with sell out gigs in Stoke’s biggest venues, a following throughout the UK, support slots for some of the UK’s biggest underground touring bands and an ever growing support in the industry, Six Towns are fast living up to the expectation.

Formed in 2008, Liam O’Brien (vocals), Jake Lovatt (Lead), Matt Litherland (Bass), Simon Harrison (Rhythm) and Alex Widgery (Drums) produced their first mini 8 track album, “Story of Your Life”. Whilst the sound at this stage was still in its infancy, it was these initial tracks which began to create a stir on the local music scene with every track featuring on the BBC Introducing show in Stoke. And it was also these tracks which gave the band their first gig, headlining The Sugarmill, a venue which has since been voted the Midlands number one small music venue.

Due to creative differences, the band then parted way with the drummer, Alex Widgery, who was replaced with Paul Cawley, who would stay with the band until 2011. Their next two EP’s, “The Edge of Reason” and “Too Young To Die” saw the lads take a much darker approach, finding their own sound with tracks like Dirty Desires and producing their first music video to the soundtrack of ‘The Chase’. This rock ‘n’ roll, anthem like approach to their music was immediately embraced by their fans and they quickly developed into a true headline act.

Continued performances around their home town, gigs further afield, non-stop airplay and appearances on unsigned mixtapes and worldwide online radio meant that fans continued to increase and with it, so did the demand for more music. It was at this point that Six Towns were forced to part way with their second drummer Paul due to illness. Whilst this did delay the creation of more material, it allowed the band to assess the path that they were taking, find their direction and also welcome Steve Jones on board in mid 2011.

This addition led to the band taking a new path, seeking a heavier, dirtier sound and finding the mixture of old and new that they had long been seeking. With their eclectic taste in music, they were able to combine sounds from very different backgrounds and eras to produce their own unique version of rock ‘n’ roll. Older influences such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones and The Who combined with more modern sounds from The Music, The Rifles, Kasabian and Courteeners make it easy to understand exactly where this band get’s their big sound from and how they continue to produce such ear-catching material, time after time.

Here’s what some people in the industry had to say about Six Towns:

"With their latest single, Wasting Away, Six Towns silence all the naysayers who state that guitar bands are dead. They instead rocket themselves into the indie stratosphere with a slice of rock and roll perfection. Equipped with an impressive anthemic chorus, the track doesn't let you forget it in the slightest and assures you that this Stoke-on-Trent band are destined for very big things. In a world overrun by Will.i.am, Pitbull and forgettable pop music, it's a breath of fresh air. It's exciting to hear a band like Six Towns with their straightforward memorable indie rock sound." - The Sentinel Newspaper - www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk

"Indie-Rockers 'Six Towns' have great songs already, they are aggressive in parts but have elements that you'll love forever, these lads know how to write a catchy rock anthem" – Fred Bambridge, It’s All Indie - http://www.its-all-indie.blogspot.com/

“In a world where bland R&B and poor pop is still intoxicating the charts, Six Towns are one of the few real guitar based indie rock n roll bands grabbing the bull by the horns and pushing to take over the world. With their solid riffs, powerful drums and distinctive vocals, they can’t help but produce anthem after anthem.”

"I have watched this band go from strength to strength, refining their sound and maturing at a level most bands don't reach. They work hard, play with passion and are bringing back good, guitar based indie rock and roll. Six Towns are definitely ones to keep an eye out for..." - Chantelle (Get:Method) - www.theunsignedrevolution.com
